some things i can't say anything about, me and the girls tried to live as normally as possible despite everything i remember leaving money on counters when we went to stores for supplies minding our manners
for us it was something to hold on to so we didn't lose our minds but it was all stuff i could give up in a heartbeat if it meant living another day
i can't fathom how that used to be my world sometimes.
by the time i was born, it was all already gone. ive gone through the stores though. its so weird to think you could just walk in a store and get food or music for money. ive never even handled money...
joel said there used to be trucks that went around selling ice cream to kids in their houses. it sounds so easy.
admittedly money feels like. super overrated. but it was "normal" so we kept it up as best we could.
(part of this is because yuki was dealing with active delusions so we played along for her sake.)
we didn't have that in japan but we did have food trucks! they'd park in good spots and sell food to passers-by. lots of vendors used little carts to push around too since streets were really narrow.
she couldn't cope with reality, so she convinced herself it was all... normal, still. the infected were just dangerous delinquents. she could still go to classes, and as long as we set up rules in a frame of reference she'd accept, she'd stay in the safezone.
it was. but i don't know how i'd be if i was born after the fact, either.
she's been really reliable lately! she can hear things really well so she can let us know when something's approaching. and she's been more proactive and diligent. honestly a part of me wonders if she was starting to come back down to reality but acted like she wasn't for our sakes.
it was a lot? it felt boring and tedious a lot of the time. it was a bunch of us in one classroom and our teachers would switch out depending on what subject was being taught, save for home ec and phys ed- cooking and our physical activities
i was part of the track team which was running and vaulting competitively, which probably sounds silly but it was fun.
i didn't realize how much i'd miss everything until it was gone.
cafes were really fun. they'd play nice music and they'd have the nicest treats and drinks. including coffee! i like tea and coffee both, but coffee's really easy to mess up because it's bitter. i can't drink it black...
