Keep an eye on Ruby, please. She was my opponent in the first round, though I let her go on in the end. I won't repeat our conversation, as it's private for both of us, and we came to the decision amicably- or as much as it could be in the situation- but I'm worried about her. Thank you.

I wasn't in the game myself, so I was able to handle looking after my teammates.

I don't know the details and no one seems able to tell me, but I've an idea from what I have heard.

I'm sorry you all had to go through it. Ruby is resting, but I doubt anyone is going to come out of this feeling right.

How far did you get, by the way?

Just the first round. I think I would have tried harder if it had been someone willing to fight me, but

we just talked.

I didn't make it past the first round, but the winner told me more. Each round it was a 1v1 pair with the goal to be to kill the other before they could kill you, with different methods as to how.

I'm sorry you had to make that choice at all, but I imagine I would have done the same in your place.

You said your world was just as harsh- but that doesn't mean you weren't likely as hurt by this situation.

I hate that I had to make the choice, but I don't regret letting her live. I won't.

Would you be willing to do me a favor? I can't walk currently, and it's hard to get a wheelchair out the front door.

I told Rollo I'd go to the library and get us some books. He's interested in continuing his studies to keep up routine, and offered to help me do the same since the girls and I did the same during the outbreak, but I can't like this. If you could get some, that'd be a great help for that, and it'd give us something to do! If you let me know when you're on your way back, I'll have tea or hot chocolate ready for you. :)

Honestly? I'd love something just light and fluffy after the past couple of days. Otherwise I can't actually say I have a preference. This is actually me trying something new! But I feel like you and my friend Miki are similar, so I want to trust your choice.

What is your friend Miki like?

Ohhhh yeah. It was a rough night, and then I woke up here! And then it got WORSE. Very impressive, 0/10 stars though.

Miki is a little strict and a little harsh- but not in a bad way, I promise. When she cares, she's got that same tone you do- I bet if she could, she would have sent messages like yours too. So it makes me want to get to know you better!

Miki's the sort of person who pushes and challenges until it's time to rest. She's also very sweet and diligent and without her, we probably would never have gotten as far as we did. She reads a lot, and has taken to writing everything we do down. I'm very proud of her as her upperclassman.

If we're going to be stuck here for any longer than this, we may as well. It's good to be able to help each other where we can.

Your friend sounds like someone I'd appreciate being a mentor to. I do have to stay with Epel and Kalim and the others right now, but I'll be sure to let you know what I've found in the library when I head there.

And I understand! I didn't get to catch Kalim during the aftermath, but I did get to be with Epel. I know you being there means a lot to him.

Thank you, and I will. I promise. On both parts at the end there I mean. But you be sure to rest, too. Being the caretaker has it's own struggles. Just because you weren't there doesn't mean you have to tear yourself apart to fill in the gaps.
